Apple’s 2020 13″ MacBook Air has just been released, and it offers a pretty impressive value for the cash!

It’s actually $100 cheaper this year while having double the storage!

And for $100 more, you can upgrade to a quad-core i5 processor which packs a decent amount of performance.

We’re going to compare basically everything about the new Air to the base $1300 13″ MacBook Pro from last year.

They’re both packing quad-core processors, but there may be a better cooling system on the Pro. Watch this video to find out!

  2. 13" MBA vs MBP…. ?? ..goes to ebay, buys a thinkpad, upgrades the drive, cpu, memory, additional storage from a cd bay adapter, trackpad, battery, and new IPS display panel all for $500 less… just my opinion, though I was curious about that obnoxious touchbar so thanks for addressing my curiosity. Good comparison video though 👍 my gf refuses to switch from Apple so I wanted to know which was better suited ✌

  3. The Macbook Pro 13 inch is getting pretty old and will get a major new generation revamp this year according to rumors.

  4. Another superb practical concise comparison thank you! Is there any word on likelihood of a 14” MBPr this year? Or any update to MBPr at all?

  5. 10:19 Very strange, ifixit's teardown shows a different heatsink than yours, without the weird chambers drilled in!
I wonder if it's based on processor model? I don't see why this one in the video would cool better though.

  6. I'm starting to wonder if Apple is intentionally breaking the cooling on the MBAs to create an artificially large gap between the MBP and MBA in "pro" tasks. It's hard to understand why they would keep such a bad cooling design for a totally new generation of the MBA otherwise.

  7. Can this play gta 5 along with normal web browsing?? Im thinking of doing the i5 processor and 16GB for £1300? Is it worth it??

  8. Macbook Pro in recent years has poor performance under load. It performs on paper well but in reality it just gets super hot, the fans go crazy and it throttles itself to stop it setting on fire. For me the Macbook Pro is not a performance machine in reality, but a ok performing expensive hand bag looking consumer laptop. If you want power in a laptop you can no longer rely on Apple for this. Sad. I am using one right now and it is my 4th one so fan boys need to note. I am a loyal but now disappointed Apple user. My 2015 Macbook Pro performs far better than this 2018 model does. How is that even possible!!!

  9. The greatest argument for the MacBook Air is the lack of this ridiculous Touch Bar. I would pay extra for not having it.

  10. I have the same MacBook Pro and I love it’s performance and design. I do drool over the MacBook Air’s sleek design though.

  11. The Butterfly keyboard (in any iteration) is an unreliable disaster and any laptop that uses it needs to be avoided. The reliability of the new "magic" keyboard is unproven, but it can't be worse. So the Air wins.

  12. Thinking about longevity and power, right now, do you think I have to buy the MacBook Pro 13” 2019 256gb, or the MacBook Air 13” 2020 512 gb? OR I could wait the next pro (but it will be too much expensive)? I need it for university, film, music, some video editing and stuff like that… but always thinking about longevity and power! Thank you 😊

  13. Max, thanks for providing us with this detailed comparison as always! I was wondering if it's worth upgrading the new Air with an i7 and 16GB RAM for moderate photo/video editing/gaming?

  14. Hello, is it true that the macbook air 2020 has overheating problems and reaches very high temperatures even doing the most basic things on the mac? I am undecided whether to buy or this or ipad pro 2020 for home use, therefore the internet, email, documents, game, video … But at the same time I would like to buy a device that will last me even over the years since I am not willing to change it. What can you recommend? Thank you.

  15. That Heaven bench mark makes me cringe. No one is going to allow 10fps while gaming. So why test with extreme? When most people would probably use medium graphics with either machine? I'd like to know how they heat up while getting at least 60fps.

  16. My Macbook Pro with touchbar from 2017 didn’t show a P3 display color logo so I went into my settings and changed it to P3 and the logo became visible. (The Macbook was set to Color LCD as the default.)
